GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Cephalotus follicularis is a monotypic pitcher plant, endemic only to a small location in southwestern Australia. They grow two types of leaves, (photosynthetic green leaves and carnivorous pitchers) and lack a dormancy phase which allows cultivators to enjoy these beautifully strange plants year long.

CARE REQUIREMENTS:

SOIL/MEDIUM: We use a 2-1 perlite to peat mix for Cephalotus. They grow naturally in course soil comprised of sand, rocks and peat moss.

CONTAINERS: Use well draining plastic or glazed ceramics. Drainage holes allow for adequate monitoring of watering schedules. Cephalotus spread and fill pots, so expect to eventually pot in medium to large pots with wide openings.

WATER: Never allow the soil to dry out while avoiding total saturation, and always ensure some liquid is present in active, open pitchers. The easiest watering routine involves thoroughly watering from overhead, allowing some water to trickle from the bottom of the pot. Only water again after the bottom of the pot has been dry for a day.

LIGHT: Cephalotus require very bright full spectrum lighting. LED grow lights provide the best light environment indoors. Expect less red coloration without proper light.

FERTILIZATION: We recommend using MAXSEA brand fertilizer for all carnivorous plants, as these
sensitive plants respond very well to this formulation. (Available on our website). The plants will naturally catch pests, and these can be
‘fed’ to the plant by placing *live* bugs into the traps. Fertilize once every 2 weeks in spring
and summer, and once a month in winter. Never let fertilizer touch flowers
